02j box with 100m or 108mm
This is sending me to an early grave.
I've go a 1.8 BAM in my 1983 MK1 with a 02a (I think) that has done 5th gear and as I'm going to keep the car indefinitely it's going to get an 02j with matching gear selector (rod) so my million dollar question (s) is;
Will any 100mm flanges fit the box so I don't have to worry about the driveshafts, I can use what's in the car now
Or
Fit 108mm shafts and keep the gearbox flanges , if so what/where/vehicle would be the donor?
Again sorry to ask but there's so much conflicting info (to me being a newbie).
Cheers for any help.

If it has the latter, find some 100mm flanges to swap them out.
I'm not sure the 02A ones are compatible, maybe later boxes? I'm sure the early ones fit on with a circlip as opposed to being bolted in for the 02J.
I had the same issue, my 02J box came with 108's. I found a pair of 100mm flanges for around 50 quid on eBay. 2 bolts later and problem solved.

You may strike lucky and already have the 100mm's on it. If not then just buy a pair like these.

I've seen comments about there being two options, circip or 2 bolt is that correct?
If so can you tell from a photo image ?
Thanks for the help. 👍

Worse case scenario you've doubled up on compatible flanges… very easily sold on!

I have read somewhere that the one they recommend was a rod shift and you needed to elongate two of the mounting holes, does that ring any bells?
