Led headlights

Evening boys and gals. I was wondering has anyone fitted led headlights to their golf as in a complete 7inch unit which just has leds instead of the h4 bulb. A bit like this one

looks as if they are plug and play.

My issue would be they are polycarbonite lenses.  While Poly lenses are nice they do cloud up and need to be polished to remain clear.

They also don't have the hardness of glass and will crack if a stone hits them at speed, as I had a projector pair with the same poly lens, and well they are more expensive to replace.

It is far cheaper to install Silverstars with the blue tinted bulbs and relay your head lights.

Were you thinking HID then that is a different issue……

Isn't it amazing how far LED tech has come in the last 40 years.

I would have to ask the MOT folks if they are MOT rated as main lights…. I know that some over here are only rated as secondary lights….

These ones are for a land rover defender to replace the main lights. It's not a hid look I'm looking for I just thought it could be a interesting way to go, I've not seen any mk1 with them on (loads of mini's and defenders)

There was a post on here from one of our Canadian members.
He'd bought a straight fit pair that were for one of the Jeep models.

But they were insanely bright and he showed examples.
His side lights were almost the brightness of normal headlights.
But with the main beam on in the picture it was like he'd got two towers of flood lights from Wembley Stadium fitted!

They were like WWII anti aircraft search lights, or so I'm told as I wasn't around to see them myself. 😂

I think you'll get into serious trouble with those ones fitted.
Certainly wouldn't pass the MOT in Austria and I'm sure they wouldn't in the UK either!
