Most up to date Information on the 1.8T Conversion

Hi guys,

Sorry to be that guy but I have an 1983 1.3 driver, its currently sitting as a bare shell and requires a bit of welding etc.

Thing is I am getting married in 2020 and I am going to try and get the car finished for the wedding to surprise my bride to be, so I am taking this year to gather all the extra parts needed so I am ready to go in the new year.

At the moment I am driving a 2000 mk4 gti with a 1.8T agu engine, the plan is to use this engine for the swap.
It already has a stage 1 remap and imo deleted.

My question is what all can I re-use in the mk1 and also what additional parts are required. Ideally I would like to keep prices down obviously with the wedding, so budget friendly parts so I can upgrade further down the line.

Also do I need to cut up the mounts on the mk1 with it having a 1.3 or can modified mounts be obtained?

And with wiring I am having a smooth bay so do I just need an extended engine loom, along with using my current ecu.

Do I need to change my clocks or will the 1.3 items work?

Finally advise on: Gearbox, Fuel set up, Brakes, and is it recommended to refurb the interior loom? Don't want any fires!lol

Thanks for your help I appreciate it!

No probs.

As for fuel, i mounted a facet red top under the car as a lift pump, modified the fuel pickup from 6mm to 8mm feed.  Lift pump feeds a 1 ltr swirl pot in the boot, walbro 255 external pump from there to feed the injectors.  Its a noisy system being all in the car but it works for me.

I believe you can use the gti lift pump pickup assembly but struggled to find one at a decent price.
