Yes mate put a couple of pressure reducing valves in the brake  lines to the rear brakes otherwise they will lock up far to easily

Speeding is like masturbation, everyone does it ,but it's not something you should record and put on the internet!!

Not an expert and never done this upgrade but the received wisdom is that it's a waste of time and effort.

On the MK1 hardly any of the braking effort is done by the rear wheels its nearly all the front discs.

As already said rear discs are more powerful, so just lock up the rear wheels. By modern standards the MK1, even the Cabrio is light weight, you are not trying to stop a 2.5 ton SUV.

Better to make sure the existing system is 100% and if your really do want to upgrade fit bigger discs at front (which will need larger wheels if still on 13 inch) and/or a bigger master cylinder/servo combo.

The trouble with doing nothing is that you never know when you are finished.

But its so much better for maintenance reasons and looks better, Think 14 inch minimum wheels may be required.

The reason I'm putting discs on the rear, is that I can not get the drums to work. It has failed its MOT twice on the rear brakes. Everything is new on the brake system. Front work fine. I've swooped the circuits  round on the master cylinder, front work, rear don't. I've adjusted the wedge through the stud hole in the drum, and it still does not pass it's MOT. I've thrown the towel in, so I'm going to put rear discs on off a Mk2    . So just need advice. Thanks.  :banghead:     :ocf_emoticons__censored:
