Post

hi, im starting an engine conversion soon. I've read so much on various forums about how to go about it and although im not a mechanic I am enthusiast and keen to begin (with advise off you guys and a mate who will call in when I stuck!).
I have a 20vt engine code BAM  and my car is a late clipper.
When i bought the engine i was also give these but I'm unsure of what they are and what they do and if they're needed.  could someone shed some light on it please.
 thanks

top pic is the a/c drier and hoses see the R134A written on them, but they aren't off a MK1

The second one is as well but I haven't a clue as to what it is off of but not a MK1.

Don't have a clue as to the 3rd, unless it is for a oil cooler on the transmission.

What do Divorces, Great Coffee, and Car Electrics all have in common?

They all start with GOOD Grounds.

Top 2 pics are from an Air conditioning unit.

3rd picture I have no idea?

This site may help if you have any part numbers on the pipes or you be able to spot them in the pictures?

no part numbers to be seen but there's a few fluid drips that resembles hydraulic or brake fluid. I'm guessing I won't be needing that either

A/C depending on the year of manufacture, has oil in the compressor that is scavenged to the drier.  One of the Golf/Rabbit or Cabriolet Bentley/Haynes has the proportions of oil that is usual residual in the compressor and components as in drier/lines/evap condenser Could of even been my Haynes a/c book.  This is why you should flush the system to rid it of junk, and oil prior to refilling.

The r12 based systems used mineral oil (clear or brownish after a good run)
The R134A uses PAG oils of different viscosities depending on the manufacturer of the compressor as the other components don't care. Which is why depending on the year, we have o-rings or Nitrile 0-rings and different composites of rubber being used as the different gases can escape because the o-rings/rubber are designed originally for the type of Gas refrigerant being used.

So it isn't unusual for components to Drip residual oil.
