Extended wheelarches on a caddy

I am making some cologne type arches to put on my caddy and wondered if I should make them wide enough for an eight inch rim and something like a 225 by 16 or 17 tyre . Has anyone fitted this size wheel and had any fouling issues ?

I have started making the wings to accomadate the larger tyres . Here are a couple of pictures

Well done not seen this before. What did you use ? Fibreglass, Ali or steel? Anyway looks like a nice job have you decided on wheels yet ?

Thanks , I made the wings from fibreglass around those wheels so they are there to stay . The fronts are a complete bolt on replacement and the rears clip on along the trim line into a U shaped section that is screwed on to the body but hidden with the wing in place.
