Hi guy's,
here's one for you how do you insure your cars as in the description you give on your usage.
I usually have social, domestic, pleasure etc and commuting.
I mean how many of us use our cars in summer for back and forth to work?
I use my Cabriolet in the summer months and my polo winter time.

Don't have commuting on mine - no way am I leaving it in a carpark or on the street.  Also mine isn't insured if left at home on the drive at night, has to be locked in the garage.

To commute longer distances use my company car, and if working at my local office use my Smart Car as there is an 8ft long free parking space on the road which nobody else can fit into!

hi chortle, mine are just social and domestic use, i do occasionally drive to office, but would argue not commuting as not daily or weekly occurance. Also if was to take car say holiday, or even club AGM you can hardly park in  garage at home overnight, think even the insurers would concede that point. As long as you dont push limits and keep security upto scratch, then id say within reason the odd trip o office or site would be ok.  To prevent breakin of car maybe leave door unlocked and a note saying nothing of valve in the car, stereo £50,glass £100 up wards to replace, speakers etc, £100, i know when i used to go fishing id leave a my transport open with notes saying nothing in car door open, and refulled before travelling home, so not even 50miles in the tank, if they need a drink or sandwhich come see me in tent on banking..

am I right in thinking you need to supply the insurer with a load of photos to get classic insurance

Not always. I took a classic car policy last year. Agreed value, no photos required. Most will want photos though. Also most classic car polices won't include commuting, must be a second car and have a very low restricted mileage. Garaged too.
