I am the single owner since '89 of a VW Golf Clipper and need to get it valued for insurance purposes…Does the VW owner club have a 'resident' assessor willing to come by to appraise?

Generally the value would be dependant on condition, mileage, history etc.
Posting some photos and other details may help get a general idea.
As a club we don't offer such a service.
There are so many variables.
Most insurance companies may need you to show how you value the car.
So adverts from classic car sites etc can be a good indicator of value when comparing like for like.
Values seem to of been on the up of late.

Hello chortle. Thank firstly you for your message.  I have had my car from new (1989), am single female owner…The mileage is 125,000. The general condition is good although I just need a new hood. It has had a manual choke added but, otherwise, all the parts (body ie. internal shelf, petrol cap, wheel trim, windscreen wipers have been replaced with originals over the years ). My motto has been to keep the car as it was originally was, not to 'modify it  in any way if at all, to replace parts when I need to with 'like for like' etc. It does not live on a drive way though or in a garage but off street…Over the years, insurers have not wanted to allow it special 'collectible/vintage car status' as they have said that it is not housed in a garage, though it doesn't do more than 5,000 miles a year now…Here are a few pics

As you've owned it from new does the car have full service history from VW because all these things count!

Also have you considered contacting our sponsored Insurance companies down the left of our home page to get some advice from them. Tell them you're a new member at this club.

Then if you like what you here become a paid member of this club and get our club discount from one of them! 😉👍

Is there a need (not just a demand) for "official" valuations?
