i dont mean to sound condecending but have you tryed adjusting the choke  also i believe theres a screw on the carb that adjusts the idle speed......its worth a try if you havent already, i apologise if you know all this already but im using my limited knowledge of the subject. Hope this helps anyway

What Carburettor do you have on the 1.1 ? if it is the Pierberg carb, it has an anti overrun cut out on the carb. Which if it is not connected will cause this exact symptom. check on the side of the carb, there should be a wire connecting to the side of the carb, if this is not there, then this could be causing your problem. But only on the Pierberg carburettor.

Same on the webber conversion is has a fuel cut off valve which is like a magnetic read valve which as posted above must be connected up to a live feed (I think its + anway ?).

I had this problem the other day and that was what it was.

hi been messing around a bit with it today and i think it may be the fuel pump is on its way out

if i sit and pump the a/pedal then go to start it it will tick over for  about 4 or 5 mins happy then just cut out

what do you think ?

It may be running lean on idle, could be the idle jet is dirty or there is a problem with your needle and seat in the float bowl, not regulating the float bowl correctly. It might be worth taking the top of the carb off, and using a soft plastic bristle from a hair brush to give the jets a run through. Also give the jets (reed valve) and carb venturi a squirt with carb cleaner as well.

The needle and seat in the float bowl would probably affect running higher up the rev range so it is unlikely that is the problem though.

Check for any residue in the carb float bowl, it is usually a white powder like substance which can cause problems. Could also be a nasty intake leak, so check the rubber mounting gasket the carb is mounted on for splits, any pipes loose, gaskets damaged etc.

hope this helps
