Wheels

Hi All

I posted on the old forum when I was after some fuel actuator hoses - thanks for the info as I got them from ebay OK.

I have two further questions if anyone can help….

1) I have two sets of original 13" alloys with nearly new tyres - (83 1.8gti style). One set completeley refurbed and mint which I think I will keep, and 1 set which are in very good condition. Can anyone tell me how much I could get for a set? Is ?400 way too much  :?:  8O

2) I may have a bit extra cash left over after I put on my Eibach springs/Koni TA's and BBS RM's. Would you recommend buying strut braces (rear & front upper/lower) or put my money towards roll bars?

Great site by the way  :D

Thanks
Mark

The 9 spoke GTi wheels are plentifull in supply and the most i have seen a "mint as new" set [x5] go for is ?250 and i think that was due to a bidding frenzie on eBay . Strut braces are well from what i have seen posted on the site down to taste , and only the Front lower one actually provides improvements . Roll bar essential for track day car but for road use its up to individual taste . Good luck with the car …..

Chudd….

Thanks for the info - that gives me something to work from re. the wheels - about 150 sounds about right then. Also, I may just get the front lower bar done and do the roll bars in the future some time. It does not roll as much as the other makes of golf I have owned.

I'm new to Mk1 ownership so thanks for the info !

Cheers

I have read reports that if you stiffen the anti-roll bars you lose grip in the wet, something to do with weight transfer.

I have read this - the reduction in roll keeps the tyre flatter and provides less pliancy when cornering in the wet, however, I put Eibachs on my mk3 vr and the difference was amazing and well worth it - even in the wet it changed the way the car handled in a positive way. Just dont drive like a nutter in the wet.

I can only assume it will be very good mod on the lightweight mk1.   :D
