On my MK1 tin top I ran 8 x 14 with 195/45/14 and mines lowered by about 80mm all round and it doesnt rub all I did was to fold back the arch lip, but I dont carry anyone in the back as its decked out and caged…

If you still want practicality i would go no more than 7-7.5 with a low profile…
