Fitting 13" ATS Classics with standard disc brakes.. ?

Hi all, as titled - I'm planning to buy a set of ATS Classics 13" diameter (7J I think but TBC)

I've heard horror stories of these wheels being bought and then fouling on the front brake calipers.. is this true? If so, how can it be overcome.. will I need spacers? How much clearance will I need?

I have standard front discs and calipers, car is a 1983 Driver.

I'm presuming they have no problem going over the rear drums? (Standard again). Also, should I need lengthened wheel bolts with the front spacers, will longer bolts from a Mk4 Polo fit inside the Mk1 hub threads?

Cheers all,

Chris

I ran these wheels on standard brakes with problems . The wheels supplier will include new bolts .

with problems?

do you mean without problems?

im buying them second hand mate off a guy who had them on his lupo, and i'm not getting the bolts with them.. just got some longer than standard polo bolts, they should fit in a Mk1 Golf though shouldn't they, aren't all VAG bolts the same thread pattern etc?

The ATS classics that were standard on Opel Mantas had a strange rear wheel drive offset that only just caught on VW callipers.  You can grind a couple of mm from the outside of the caliper, or stick a 3mm spacer on the front and they go on fine.

The ones you buy new should be the correct offset, so no dramas.

Driver driver.

i have 13x7's on the fronts and 8's on the rear, the fronts foul the brakes and require 100mm HUBCENTRIC spacers and long bolts and thats the only problem i had with them!

oh crap! soz mate lol, yeah 10mm spacers not 100mm or 3mm 10mm clears the calipers by 2mm (bit close) but its ok,
