Drive Shaft Removal

Does anyone know what size the Torx bit should be for removing the cap screws from the inner drive shaft flanges :?:

Youll need an 8mm torx, try and get a good quality one as the cheap ones tend to round off.You probably already know this but remember to tap the torx in before undo it

I'd try and clean as much of the crap out of the cap screws as possible first too with a small screwdriver.

If you're buying a torx drive try and get the long ones rather than the short (~20mm) ones as the long ones clear the CV joint much better.  Make sure you get the one with the correct number of splines (I think it should be 12) as you can get 12, 8, and 6 splined ones.  in fact I think torx is a special one that is 6 spline i.e. not the one you want - but I'm not 100% sure of that.

I think you are right Rich. They are not Torx, but "Star" as named in Halfords. I had to buy the whole rack just for that socket. Hey, I was desparate!

Cheers guys. I'll get one sorted tomorrow.
I just need to remove the shafts from a spare engine and Gearbox I bought from Adolf.
