Clutch Cable part no.

Can anyone give me a part no for a clutch cable for a 1.8 fuel injected 1985 cabrio.
My current one goes round the back of the cylinder head and comes round by the brake fluid resevoir.
It seems a bit tight when I try to bring it around the front of the engine and it seems to me to be important to lead to the clutch arm in a gentle curve to minimise pressure and twisting a the the bulkhead which is already patched.

Clucth cable type appears to have changed in the83/84 timeframe


My VW authorised dealer gave me part no 172-721-335-H. However they cauldn't offer any advice as to correctness of this part number.

A correct GSF part number would be helpful or indeed any knowledgeable contact

That is the correct part number and is listed as 1470mm in length, check the length of the one you have. There is a 1490mm fitted to Late MK1 Golf tin tops but is now deleted. My cable goes over the engine then curves infront.

Thanks Rob, I have now found a GSF part no.

It's 71560 with a fitment specified as "G1C 1.8 K-Jetronic Inj. > 93

got the GSN part no.  71560. Correct length 1470mm (my old one is considerably shorter)
New GSN one is a GEMO cable, replacing 172-721-335 E, or so it says
