Brake bleeding
mk1 1500
I fitted new old stock mastercyl & new hoses ,rear cyls ,have bled it lots ,is it possible seals in m/c might have shrunk slightly ,I'm not able to get a good pedal & there are no external leaks at wheels nor into servo…thinking fluid might be passing the seals….have opened m/cyl all looks well…..Any ideas ?
Will vacuum brake bleeder eg Sealey work ok to bleed brakes on a 1500 mk1 ?
Cheers

How did you bleed the brakes?
Did you 'manually' adjust the rear shoes? (The auto adjusters tend to seize over time, or not work that well).

Only 1500 with no load compensator.
Got loan of vac bleeder, rh rear,lh rear ,rhfront ,lh front.
pulled trigger on vac then slacked bleedscrew, similarly tightened screw then let off vac.
Mastercyl when apart ,cup rubbers (still on pistons ) freer than I would have thought in bore, but no marks on them….

If your shoes are adjusted properly and its still spongy, and you're confident the air has been bled out - then suspect master cylinder seals, caliper seals, rear wheel cylinder seals, or flexible brake lines. All of these rubber components can go soft over time and thus leads to poor braking.
