"Tarantula" alloys with 165/70 Tyres?

Any one got a pic?  :dontknow:  I'd like to see the wheel / tyre proportion before ordering tyres!

Thanks!

the earlier phase 2 Gti "9 spoke" alloys that i think you mean? came with 175 70 13 tyres on, 165 are gonna make em look like pram wheels! they look best with 185 60 or 50 profile tyres fitted

@ Topof therange: I know they came with 175's on Golf's, but I'm considering using them on my Mk1 Polo, hence the plan for 165/70's.

@ rov716y: thanks for the pic, exactly what I was after!

If you are using them on a Mk1 Polo then you want 165/65 tyres.  165/70 will show too much sidewall for a Mk1 Polo and your speedo and gearing will be out.

My Mk1 Polo ran 135/80 tyres as standard on 13" wheels.  My mate is running 165/65's on 13's and it's much better than mine (which is now running 185/60 on 14's).

My Mk1 runs 145/80's which were the factory fit (I still have the original Michelin XZX's which came on the car, although I don't use them!) in 1981.

Therefore a 165/70 represents a 0.18% reduction in circumference; using a 165/65 would reduce circumference by 3.11%, hence affecting the speedo and gearing to a greater (although still negligible) degree.
