The daily run about.
1959 Series 2 Land Rover.
About half a dozen wires under the bonnet and two fuses.
Bit of a change from the Golf.
Had it since 1980.
Only ever failed to start on one occassion and that was when the battery collapsed.
Real old faithful.

Like the old Land Rover, not sure I would want it as a daily especially in the winter, does yours have a heater?

1988 Mk1 Golf GTi Cabriolet 1.8cc DX, K-jet. Daily drive. 317,000 miles and counting
1978 Mk1 Scirocco GLS 1.6cc FR, Webber carb. Weekend toy.

Any vehicle with a muff would be fun

1983 Mars Red 1.8 Golf GTI
1987 Alpine White 1.8 Clipper Cabriolet

The trouble with doing nothing is that you never know when you are finished.

Years ago I had a 1964 2A with a Perkins 4203 diesel. With that engine up front it was number than a numb thing with the back full of numb pills, but bloody hell could it pull. (heavy weights, not women  :ocf_emoticons__eusa_naughty: )

Love it!

I had a 2A, 2 x 3A's and my last one that I drove through thick fog followed by a massive snow storm when I drove it over from England to Austria full to the brim with my belongings was a long wheel base 10 seater Turbo Diesel Defender in white.

It took me exactly 24 hours to drive straight through from Winchester, Hampshire to Vienna, Austria arriving 6:00am on Christmas eve 1994.

We opened the door of our apartment it was ice cold, got the quilt out just put it on the bed and we slept for the next 24 hours. I've never been so knackered I can tell you, the Autobahns in Germany were closed to most vehicles because the snow was more than a meter deep in places but with my faithful Landy we managed to pick a way through it, hundreds of vehicles were just stranded with the drivers in the cars.

Woke up Christmas morning and we had nothing not even a tea bag and all shops and garages are closed on that day.

Knowing what I know now 24 years later I should have listened to my gut feeling and turned my Landy round and driven back home again! :)

God I loved that last one! ;)
