Gone but not forgotten

Yeah, thought that word would confuse them and I could fudge it!

Tell them once they're 16 you're selling them to buy an Alfa again!

I had a 156 2.5 V6 24v, was one of the nicest sounding cars I had, and absolutely love it :-)

Now that looks gorgeous, v6 Alfa's hard to beat. The only one I ever got to drive was a 75 with the V6, totally addictive.

That's nice Rich ;)

I still need to own an Alfa!! I've always loved them but for some reason have never owned one (and not for the sensible reasons! lol)

I test drove the 156 when they were new and it was one of the most comfortable driving positions of any car I'd been in. I am glad in a way I didn't go for it in the end and went for a Beemer back then. It was a company car and due to starting another company kept it some years - and for 250,000 miles!!  :o I'm not sure if the Alfa would have lasted that long!?  :$

Yeah, it really is head and heart stuff. I had a 2 litre Twinspark first which was a great car but suffered horrendous depreciation. Was very reliable up to just before 60000 miles when the fuel pump failed and I thought it was a taste of things to come so traded it in for a 2.4 JTD. The JTD was a beautiful car to drive but an absolute nightmare with reliability issues (the drivers door broke the top hinge twice!) To put this into perspective my brother and I once jacked a 100 pound accident damaged 93 Astra by the door to get it to fit. The door fitted and did not break off and I drove it for two years! The JTD suffered loads of mechanical maladies and in the last month broke 3 times at a cost of 1500 quid - enough was enough with a baby on the way……
