Fix up
So as I said in the mk1 build, I got the offer of a mk4 golf r32 that was owned by a mate for 9 years, he looked after it well but a local garage had always done the repairs on it and I thought they had looked after the car and my mate, seams not, the rear sill had been welded by them in the past and badly … also all the sills were crushed beond any repair with out taking the side skirts off. So I ordered a new sill for the passenger side, fitted new rear disks and pads, rebuilt the front drivers caliper with new pistons and seals , painted them and refitted, also gave her new rear brake pipes and a set of braided flexi pipes.
It was then in took a good look at the sills, no way was it passing a mot. No even if Stevie wonder was the tester.
It's been sitting since summer as I didn't want to tackle the sill job in the drive way as Mk1 is in the Garage… but old lock down last week has gave me the kick up the back side for both Mk1 and mk4.
I used a guitar string to cut the side skirts off with out any damages to them.
And well the photos speak for them selfs!

Yeah you never know what's under these trims. I got the drivers side rear finished today, got to make a rear bumper bracket, then seam sealer, another coat of primer, stone chip then top coat. Hope to get it motd when lock down is over.
Painting and blending this rear wing could be interesting. 😂

Not sure if I will wait for a nice day for paint and do it out side or put the hubs on the mk1 and wheels on and roll her out side and take the R inside. Never done any blending repairs before either
Also a repair in the door shut to paint and the bottom edge of the drivers door… really it needs a full paint but I've no time or space for it at the moment and being made redundant at the end of the month I should really just get it motd and sold.
Cheers Richard

Well that's not good!
Sorry for the troubles mate.
As long as it's not too windy you should be fine outside for little bits I'd have thought.
I did the wing and bonnet on my mk1 cab out side. As usual it was a lovely day and as soon as the second coat of colour went down, it started to rain! Not helpful. Still came out alright though.

Well been busy last two days prepping then painting the golf
Some flattening and polishing to get it to blend in but it's ok for being done in the Garden and it's better than it was.
Also made a small bracket to replace the rotten one for the rear bumper. Should be back together soon and off for a test (Mot, Not covid) 😂

So golf back on it's wheels now, just leaving the paint to harden for a week before machine polish.
Front bumper and splitter back on along with the wings.
Just need a tube of tiger seal and the side skirts can got back on, might wait till it's polished first.

Well, it's safe to say I've made a roaring (see you next Tuesday) of the blending plaint debacle.
I never left near enough panel to blend into and my masking game for blending was pants.
But I've learnt off it and that's what's it's about.
Cheers Billy
One another note there was a bad blister on the top of the rear wing between it and the roof, I was at a loose end last nite and so I set about it. Need to wait in on some rust treatment to be delivered but I will just ending up painting the full rear wings now I think…. no blend just paint them up.

Got the wheels powder coats a month or so ago, had the disks skimmed but they seem to have warped them selfs again…
Happy with the wheels tho, some paint issues still need rectified but she's back on the road and I've done a few hundred miles in her.
