Best product to treat a leather steering wheel.

Post

Without making it shiny or sticky.

As some of you know I resently purchased a Golf Mk 6 Estate, Highline, TSI, DSG etc, etc…
In other words fully loaded.

The car has now done 32k miles from new and steering wheel below is starting to show signs of slight wear on the backside. The wear is at 10 to 2 only and although not bad I'd like to treat the steering wheel if possible.

You can't see it hear but it's where your fingers grip on the backside.
The rest of the wheel looks perfect, new even so I'm a little unsure of what if anything to use.

So does anyone have any thoughts on what's best to use if at all please?
I do plan to keep this car for a good few years otherwise I'm not sure I'd even bother to be honest!

Not sure if you can get them overseas, but DR Leather wipes are the best in my opinion.  My Lexus  has done 36k and interior is still like new. Steering wheel is very fine quality Matt leather and still looks same as when car was delivered.  I use them every 3 weeks or so.

Cheers Richard, I'll try to find them.

I've just looked again at the backside and the leather is starting to ruff up a little at 10 to 2 and seems to be looking pale in color, any thoughts?

Not sure these wipes will help with that will they?  O_o

Shave your palms… or use 'Lord Sheraton' leather balsam (on your wheel, not your palms)

This site might be useful if the leather really is damaged they cover a lot about car interiors as well -  unless what you can see/feel is a build up of dirt.  Could also be damage by someone wearing rings.

Not come across that one before Mike but I'll check it out thanks!

I did look at getting DR Wipes but I can only get them from Germany and the U.K. of course.
But the postal charges knacker me big time because it more than doubles the price.  O_o

Lanolin is a natural product that is found in wooly animals e.g. sheep. It's great for putting moisture back in to leather and softening it… it's also good for nursing mothers on thier milk taps, but I doubt that last bit will be of much use to you?

😂
As Sid said in the first Ice Age film when Manny asked him to feed the baby and he said, "look I'm not exactly lactating at the moment!" 😂😊
