72' Triumph Toledo

Post

My current classic after mk1 went to a new home.

I know its a bit rude to drag my thread from another forum but its the easiest way to do it. I bought this a year ago, with intentions of fixing all its gripes and driving it everyday. I am really missing my MK1 now but this is keeping me sane.

How are you finding it compared to the MK1? Will you have another?

The Toledo looks very tidy. I've always quite liked these - and a Dolly Sprint of course too ;)

Its actually quite nice to drive, if quite slow compared to the mk1 I had but carrying speed is where its at. It feels a bit backwards as it doesn't have anywhere near as much tech, no radio, no 12v power supply, no power windscreen wash with only on or off on the wipers themselves, no rear seatbelts or any other safety features really. Its recently had an 1850 rear axle put on to bring top speed up and motorway revs down. Also replacement parts are a nacker… Ive been looking for a matching passenger side grille for donkeys years, they don't make them anymore, yet they make the drivers side. Work that out.

At the moment a mk1 is the only car I'd get rid of the Triumph for.

I'll be keeping my eyes on the tinterwebs for a mk1 and when the time comes snap it up. The guy at the end of the village my other halves mother lives in keeps teasing me when ever we go there with his nice green gti in the garage.

Always liked the shape of these and one of my mates restored one, looks nice and original.

Yeah makes no sense on the grill! I would have thought parts wouldn't be too bad to find.
