Replacement Golf Cabriolet tyres

Seeking advice on the best tyres for my Mk1 Cabriolet

I'd be very grateful for any advice on tyres for my Mark 1 Golf Cabriolet K570 RBX which I bought last year and is listed in the car register.  It's a 1992 Golf Cabriolet in original unmodified condition and has completed 47,000 miles with a full VW service History.  Unfortunately my son punctured a tyre a few weeks ago and I need to replace this.  It makes me think I could replace all four if the advice was to do this now!

The tyres on the car are currently Nexen N Blue Eco 185/60 R14 82H on the front, and now only one Nexen N Blue HD Plus 185/60 R14 82H on the rear!  The car drives well and I only find the steering to be stiff when the car starts moving from a standing start.  Otherwise she drives without any vibration or pull through the steering wheel.  We live in North Norfolk so punctures can happen as there is quite a bit of flint on road verges.

Any advice on tyre choice for this car to optimise its handling and to match the originality would be very gratefully received.

Thank you all and I hope to bring K570 RBX to the annual gathering.

Matthew

I'm very happy with Goodyear Efficient Grip Performance on my Cabriolet, daily drive.

From tyre shopper you can buy a tyre Guarantee for £5 a tyre and covers you for punchers and if they can't repair the tyre you get a replacement tyre.
More info on there site.

They are linked to National tyres so they also offer the same guarantee

I run my front tyres at 28 psi (normally 26) to help with low speed steering but as the car has no power steering you need to drive differently and should not even try to turn the steering wheel unless you are creeping along.

Thank you for the reply which is very useful, particularly the advice regarding slightly higher front tyre pressure. Best wishes, Matthew
