My Mk1 Golf Cabby GTI

Not long had this Cabby, but I always wanted a convertible and this is what I ended up with. I know it used to be in the owners club because it's got plenty of stickers on it.

It's reg is D383 MOK. If anyone has any history on it I'd love to hear from them.

Many thanks
Don

My Mk1 Golf Cabby GTI

So we did a little bit of work on the Golf last weekend. I've started with the engine bay. Swapped my original inlet manifold for a freshly powder coated one.

Next thing on the list is the Rocker cover, I have a painted one to go on but I just didn't have the time. Going to take the timing belt cover and a few other bits and pieces to the powder coaters too.

Little update for everyone.
Had to replace the noisy in tank fuel pump, and whilst i was there I also replaced the fuel sender because it wasn't reading correctly.

I bought a new fuel sender from ECP but it just wasn't going to work. I ended up desoldering the old and new boards and putting the new sender board in the old housing. It's really easy, only one wire!.

I had an old Mk2 16v fuel pump and that fitted straight on, no more noisy fuel pump!

I do love my D90s. Have to say I'm a bit of a wheel collector. Got around 5 sets just for it.

So a little update on my car.

I've changed the exhaust downpipe with the help of a friend. Many swear words were used when trying to put the stupid exhaust spring clamps. I bought a tool from eBay thinking it would be good enough to do the job but the roll pins just sheered on me! So £26.99 later at ECP and I bought another tool. This one actually worked! The only struggle was getting the clamps in the right seat as many of you might know. After all that I have an exhaust system that doesn't leak and an engine that doesn't sound like Christine.

I'm going to Dubs at the Park this weekend at Easthampstead Park conference center. It's a great little show. I personally love it cos it's quite close to my birthday. First time in a few years that I'm actually showing a car there.

In preparation for that show I kinda ran out of time during the day so ended up going to my local jetwash with my cleaning gear. Two bucket method I wouldn't use the brush at these places to clean a van with let alone my car.
