My mk1 caddy project

Bought this last week and will need a lot of cutting welding and filling to bring it back to its former glory.



The plan is to lower it a lot further, strip out interior and rear window and change the colour so got strait to it.

So this is today's discovery

Yay ! Another rusty Caddy being saved

Well started on the inner arch and made a bit for the sill, not perfect shape but solid and will put a good skim of filler on the get the shape back.

More rust in passenger foot well, think I will just patch it.

I had a nice mk1 caddy but got a golf when I needed more seats, now the kids don't even like going in the golf!

Should of kept the caddy and dropped a r32 into it.

What's the bed like?

Beds been patched a lot but going over it with wood.


Today's little project for when I lower it some more. My welding g not the best but nice and strong and all got to learn somewhere!!

I do like to see a clean bed but the wood look works very well too.

Wouldn't worry about your welding the best welders had to learn somewhere.

Not posted in a while but been busy doing lots of little and some big jobs. So far I have repaired the sil, repaired the bed, replaced the panel under the rear window and the rear window. I have also replaced the wings which took hours to get the gaps right.also welded in some lips into the rear arch that was a bit scabby.

Nice looking project. Shame about the rot, but you don't seem daunted, and far worse has been resurrected.

It's not that I'm daunted by it more overwhelmed by the amount of it😄😄
All I have left now is a patch on other sil and repair to driver's door then I can start prepping for paint.

Fit roll pan tonight, not as straight forward as I thought.

So today's job was to sort out the nakered gearbox.



And replace it with a lovely recon box



While I was at it I did a engine service and fit my armer plated sump.

Been doing lots of stuff and now starting filling as welding is finished. Also had some bits arrive which spurs me on a bit.

Love the top mounts and the seats

No the seats are from a Renault wind but do have a Porsche look about them!
