Hi folks! Long time I posted on here, well since I sold my cab years back but now i'm back!

Things never happen for me in the right order and still this continues! I've been hankering over an Original Campaign, one owner (18,500 miles) Golf for only about 8 years now…. The guy will never sell he says! But every few months I keep asking and its still the same answer…. no.

So over the years I've married and had kids so sold my Splitscreen and landed a pretty unique T3 Karmann Gipsy camper. Its really Fugly but very practical for all of us. That is until I want to take my son to the WRC and Touring cars and it's just too big…. so along came a very unique Caddy Camper called a Bischofberger…. it was perfect for me and the son and I could keep the Gipsy for the family. Finally things with cars were going my way!

THEN!!! On my usual monthly trail with the lads on the bikes we go past the Campaign house and as usual I post my number through his door with a smile face and cycled off. The next day I get a call from an unknown number and he says "I hope your sitting down!"…. panic turned to joy as I realised who it was and that the car I've waited for 8yrs was finally being offered to me! BUT… It wasn't cheap. I had to think and sell fast! So the Bischofberger went up for sale (sorry previous owner!) at near the same price as the Golf. I got some interest so I arranged to go out to see the Golf. We talked, looked, and I fell in love. A deal was struck and I had 14 days to raise the cash before it went on sale to the public. You can imagine the state of play in my head! I loved this new camper…. my son loved this new camper…. but I'd always wanted this car.

Emails and phone calls about the Bish, and then a call from Mr Campaign…. he'd changed his mind and after taking it out, he didn't want to sell. I'm not sure if things will change or i'll never get to own this GTi, but as it stands now…. There is no GTi and I still have this Bischofberger!

Plan is to get it to how I want and to travel the country with my son seeing the WRC and having fun! But if someone offers me what I need with my savings to go round to Mr Campaigns door and put cash on his table, then it's for sale! LOL….

I must say that the PO was lovely and seemed to enjoy it, and if the GTi is never for sale again, then I hope i can follow in his tracks and enjoy this camper to its full potential.

If anyone has any more info on them it'll be great to see. The German Bischofberger site seems to be taken down now before I could print it out.

The only way to deal with Mr Campaign in the future, when he invites you back is to go with the cash ready so you can wave it under his nose. I'm sure if had done that the day he invited you round you would have got it but you unintentionally left him with a cooling off period.

I just bought a similar Campaign off the original owner after a 3 year wait and he went on holiday between viewing the car and me picking it up I was worried the same was going to happen once he was lying on his sunbed thinking about it! Luckily he was a man of his word!

However you can't beat a motorhome for adventures so maybe its for the best!

nearly every month for the past 8 years! It's like he's family… :lol:

But i'll never know if he will sell as my savings don't cover the amount. I'd need 6k for the Bischofberger or minimum 5.5k if I could sell a few other bits I have.

I have a big camper, but this little thing with a 1.9TD AAZ engine is just so much fun and useable. I'll see if I can upload some pics!
