1986 gold GLS cabriolet with 250k miles. It's been in a bump so got some panels to replace… both wings and a drivers door.
Interior almost stripped out and hopefully get the dash out and roof off this weekend. Will need to look into a new roof because it's got a nice hole near the front. It's a shame because it looks pretty new. Also very little rust for its age.
I can't stomach to colour so that's going to change too. Only thing my boyfriend and I disagree on is clipper kit or now… I'm not sure I want too.
The plan is to have it done by May but after a few weeks off with Illness I'm starting to doubt that. We've got our own body shop but are completely booked until April. Plenty of late nights and long weekends ahead!!

Looks good, I have similar car in Gold also - what's the difference between a GL and GLS?
Not too sure about the difference tbh. Maybe trim level?
Dash out and roof off now. Bought 2 doors and got a brand new bonnet this week. Waiting on new door cards/cappings, boot carpet and interior carpet.
Found some small holes in the floor and definitely need some wings. Still got to get the engine out.
So busy with work it just seems to have stopped for now. My dilemma is do I run it from August/September or just hold off till next summer. It won't be ready for May like I'd hoped for 🙁. I've pretty much decided everything I want now and 100% on the colour I've picked… not enough hours in the day though and I'm learning I don't have the patience I thought I did!!

Engine and gearbox came out at the weekend. Lots of "you getting a new one of these right"? Before chopping bits off. Luckily a new exhaust is on the shopping list because that's in 3 pieces now!!
Also changing my mind on the colour again. Got a few options so far.
Found a brake servo in the workshop this afternoon. It's been there for at least 4 years and after googling the number it's for a mk1/2 golf/scirocco. We don't even know where it came from. We've never worked on any of those cars At work 😂 it's just been leaning against a wall.
Fuel tank off next and start looking into the rust, although Ste thinks it's mainly surface (apart from a driver side rear arch)

So this week it got wheeled round to the engineer to have some tt seats fitted. So please with them and my b/f and son won't be complaining about their heads touching the roof 👍
Onto a jig next and get some welding done.
