bike carb help

Have you tried a local bike place ?  Timing is timing from a spark perspective so knowing the carbs is the key part.

Bikes carbs are so easy to setup if you have the right tools, carb air flow balancer, CO meter, suitable drill and drill bit sizes, etc

Try reading through this.

And also have a look at my build thread, there should be some useful information on their before page 12.

Try using a bike carb fuel pump for fueling, they are an on demand type pump and match pressure to requirements needed. I've used a Honda 1100 pump with good effect.

Regulators don't really work to well and most 'car' pumps will be too higher pressure and cause leaks. They do have a tenancy to leak once filed with fuel for the fist time as the seals tend to shrink. If it doesn't stop try another set as they should be cheap enough to replace. Twin 40s are great, i also run them, but expensive to buy!

Dependant on engine size the needles in the bike carbs will need drilling out, which is quite a precision job. The balancing should be doable by your man who wants you to go with twins. He should also be able to do the timing for you.

Good luck

From experience I had zero issues with the correct fuel pressure using a Filter King fuel pressure regulator. Details of this can be found on my build thread.

My old 8v GTI engine produced approx 170-175bhp on bike carbs. Never had any issues with fuel pressure.
