Little bit of background.

In February I bought my first project car after passing my driving test last October. A friend of mine had this golf in the garage and wanted to Sell it on so I decided to take it off his hands and I am trying to get it as original as possible. It does have an mot from last year but just needs tidying up and making all nice such as painting, interior , engine bay tidying up trims and looking at removing the paint from the bumpers if anyone has any tips.

Here is the car today.

She’s done 97,000 miles and I have been busy sorting bits and bobs out so plenty of updates to come to get you all up-to scratch.

Hopefully next year I’ll be able to get it Insured as my second car .

There is something about that I really like, looks tidy and nice low miles and once you chuck in the forums sticker in the window, what's not to love?

Enjoy it mate and congratulations on not only passing your test but having impeccable taste in cars

86 GTI Cabriolet Project

Delved into the engine today replacing the hydraulic tappets, timing belt as it was changed only 4 thousand miles ago but 15 years in sure has taken its toll. And also the auxiliary belt which was very dry cracked.

This also gave me a good time to inspect how the top of the engine and bearing caps condition which I think looked great.

All went well sounds as sweet as a nut now and I know That it is in good sound condition.
