Mk1 tin top 1.8t conversion

Hi all, thought id post a little log on my mk1 20vt build, found the car looking pretty sorry for itself but seemed a pretty solid base, its a 1.3 with engine siezed, so decided to give her a new heart with abit of boost , hope you enjoy and will try keep you posted as much as possible.

how i picked her up

after a good wash, coilovers and banded steels i had.

picked up some BBS RM 012  will be getting refurbished with wider lips soon.

stripped out interior to give a good clean and check for rot and any other defects

my small collection of conversion parts so far

thanks for looking, will try keep updated as much as possible.

bandeds were too small for the brake set up i will be running so i sold them now, currently on some G60 15" steels at the moment

also tried some 15" OZ Super turismos before i sold them too

while i get the BBS ready for a refurb and new lips

Fair point, brakes are important

The G60's look nice. Maybe painted black like the banded steels?

G60s are only temporary or track use the BBS will mainly be on

Picked myself up some Porsche seats for the mk1

Then wrapped the rear of seat in carbon fibre vinyl, opinions?…

Thanks for positive feedback   , few more pics of what I've been up to…..

Trial fitted the seats.

Also the car has been previously painted, very poorly lol so decided to wet sand to remove the orange peel effect on the paint, I had nothing to lose the car will be fully resprayed once it's all up and running.

How the paint looked before.

After being flatted.

And after being polished back up.

So I've been dying to ask have you had to do much welding the nearside rear wheel arch nearly came off in my hand when I had it on the trailer hahaha

I was told there was a lot to do but looking at what u have done to it I think someone told me porkies :(
