My long awaited Mk1 Gti.....project
I'm planning on looking at all of the suspension, polybushing it, looking at steering rack and hubs so I can get it moved fairly hassle free to a body shop to see if the shell is all ok, as I'm a bit dubious on some of the welding it's had done previously.
Once I'm happy I'll start sourcing an engine, I was hoping to have a kr, but I think I'm going to stick with an original 1.8L.

If I'm honest, I don't know! I thought they'd be better, stiffer feel etc. I've seen/read people polybushing their lower bits and using rubber everywhere else

Polys for lowers, rubbers for uppers and engine mounts
I've heard this before. Is it because it's a bit too stiff?

Can't go wrong
Only 1 I would fit is front gearbox round mount my cabriolet which has 2,0 abf running about 200bhp
Which I felt needed bit extra
But don't do main brackets you will regret buying

The engine will vibrate through the cabin if you use poly mounts, you'll also loosen your teeth with poly top mounts or bump stops.
Steering rack, rear axle bushes, ARB and wishbone will probably benefit from being poly and no ruin the ride or your health in the process but they aren't cheap so it all somes down to personal choice really and what you will be using the car for and how frequently
By the way you did well having a mk1 as a first car, most people's first cars they would rather not think about

Ideal! Thank you for the advice, I really appreciate it!
Think I'm going to polybush lowers and rubbers everywhere else.
What can I say, I bought a bettle, then the Mk1 came available. Quick sale of the beetle and I had the car I loved 😁

Found a DX engine. I was thinking of going down the KR route but this DX popped up and I fancied the 5 hour round trip 🙄🤣.
Now I have something else to strip down 🙌🏼
