Post

I'll be putting my running gear back on my shell so I can move it around but I need sone outer cv joints so the bearings don't fail.

Anyone got anything 🤔

Yeah I got two, unfortunately I need them for exactly that purpose. I keep them on the shelf. I just bought new drive shafts, they are not that expensive here in USA and I just kept the old outer cv joints specifically for this while I'm doing the car up.

Yeah they are not expensive and that is pretty much exactly what I use. just the outer joint with the splines that go thru the hub etc. Then tighten the nut up. Keeps the bearings good. The outer cv joints is what I used to keep the wheels on while I installed all the running gear. Worked a treat for me. I just keep a pair of the old one on the shelf. Bear in mind I think the nuts are supposed to be one time use I think as they stretch or something. So re use your old nut and keep the good nut for when you do your final install with the actual drive shafts. Also keep the big fat washer from the old one when you take it off as I don't think new ones come with that. Could be wrong though.

Also check the size of your old one. I see 90mm on there and I think they may have been 100mm or something like that also or that could have been the drive flange to gearbox can't remember. Just double check your dimensions though just in case.

Thanks for the info.

These outers will only be used as a temporary measure, I'll be fitting the r32 engine complete with shafts etc
