Hi everyone,

finally got round to joining and although I’ve not totally dipped my toe in yet I’m looking to purchase a MK 1 Gti.. I only allow vag cars on the drive at home which I tell my wife and family that’s the rule if they want me to repair and fix them!

part of my new desire to own a mk 1 is boredom. I have a few other vehicles but I’ve either done any work that’s needed or they are too new to have work and I like the idea of built not bought.

im torn between modified Gti’s vs standard but I’m going to view a campaign model tomorrow that you could call standard in that it’s been stored for 25 years! It’s my best mates and god know what state it’s in. I’m trying to persuade him to sell it but I’ll post some pics afterwards 👍🏻

Well here it is. I'd like to say I'm negotiating a detail but I'm afraid it's going back into storage for another 10 years. It's awful condition but 100% original with all parts intact apart form rear lights and keys??? 353588BA-7ED6-450D-AFAC-1BF8E0ED6D80.jpeg 318A7E72-EFB1-4F57-A6B0-2B2457E4A183.jpeg 4227C552-DA0A-42D0-BEA2-2CD14613DA56.jpeg F155E169-1D52-4292-BD84-455D94D6F653.jpeg F6462D11-D5A7-4709-97EB-205FD956B30F.jpeg 7754C04A-8CDF-4DF3-AFF5-879A2473427C.jpeg 41313733-0948-47B3-95E2-B47A0E9DED4C.jpeg D7EDFB84-E603-456F-9794-1139204CA4D3.jpeg

Where's it stored, in a canal?

1983 Mars Red 1.8 Golf GTI
1987 Alpine White 1.8 Clipper Cabriolet

The trouble with doing nothing is that you never know when you are finished.

I think with a clean it will look loads better.
