First mk1

Hello everyone

I've just purchased my first mk1 yesterday. It's an A reg 1.3 I've had it up on the ramp today and can't see any signs of rust underneath it seems like a really clean car. I don't plan to drive it very often. I don't know a great deal about them so hoping by joining the forum I can start to learn about it more. Is there anything yous would advise me to do? I've booked it in for a service an MOT this week so fingers crossed that goes well.  942972A2-EF5B-47C2-97DC-4D1741D227A3.jpeg 4D962527-B6D8-4A94-A2D8-510F111E2B06.jpeg 63A13FF7-548F-4528-B9C0-801E47316345.jpeg 5674A684-F78B-497E-8CF4-9B8661912BBF.jpeg

Welcome to the forum and congratulation on your purchase. I would want to make sure the previous owner had rust proofed it well underneath and in all the box sections to keep it rust free.

Love the colour and the seats (chequered centre material looks like early Polo Mk2 CL )  -  Just sort out the front numberplate if you don't mind me saying!

I'm told it looks like it's been well under sealed from the mechanic who looked at it today but I do plan to give it a once over again I suppose it won't do it any harm. Yea the number plate is definitely getting shifted back to the center god knows why it's been put over to the side like that. Main thing for me at this time is that it's mechaniclly sound and rust free everything else can come in time as I plan to keep it for a number of years so the small cosmetic things can get done at my leisure. Unsure of the seats myself tbh. Think I might try and source a new interior (in time not right away) overall I am very happy with my purchase tho.
