General introduction
Had a fair amount of vw's, Seats, Skodas and about a million other cars, built a lot of projects including a 2.0 mk3 escort zetec, 1.9 mi16 Peugeot 106, and I couldn't list everything I have done to vw's, as if be typing for weeks! 😂
New to the forum, currently on the lookout for a cheap mk1 5 door golf or 4 door jetta for a restoration project, also I will be adding a bit more power and 4wd will be included for good measure.
Cheers.

Hopefully you find a decent project to restore and call your own! As you already know, loads of information around here.
Cheers.
(feel free to share some pics of your previous projects, most, if not all, can appreciate all makes and models).

You will be lucky to find a cheap Mk1 Golf now a days, best bet would be an abandoned project as they do pop up every now and then as people strip them and realise how much time and work is involved in restoring a car.
I see you found turtles 4wd project and would be great to see what you come up with, start up a build thread when you find a car.
Good luck and keep us updated.

Here's a few of my cars over the last 16 years, haven't got pictures of all of them, but here's a small selection.
Mk3 escort with a 2.0 zetec on twin webbers, stripped out, rollcage, lsd gearbox, as fast as my mates cossie at the time
106 rallye with a mi16 engine in, multipoint rollcage, widened track, don't have any more pics of this one.
Mk4 golf running 17x10 porsche wheels, custom wide arches and smooth bumpers all around
Mk2 golf, built thus about 15 years ago, custom everything, exhaust on the large size!!
Mk5 jetta 1.4tsi, possibly the most reliable car I've ever owned
Scirocco 2.0 gt. Bought this back in 2008/2009 first one in the UK with xenon lights due to a light problem and me fixing the problem myself rather than waiting for vw to fix the issue (worked with vw group at the time)
Smoothed the bumpers, gloss blacked all the trims, roof, spoiler, made a custom exhaust system as there wasn't any available at the time, custom turbo intake pipes and s3 intercooler, and custom interior parts, carbon fibre front and rear badges custom made from a company in America and personalised plate . Was the fastest down any drag strip in 2009, then was quickly beat by a 400bhp one in Greece 😂

Hi Ryan. I'm Simon I was just wondering weather u still own the red escort xr3? I used to own this car back in the day around 2002 to 2004. I just randomly sertched the reg last night to see if anything came up and i came across this. Would be great to hear a bit about the car after I sold it. Looks very nice photos
Hi Simon, no the escort is long gone, not sure what year it was exactly when I owned this, must have been around 2008.
When I bought it it was kinda falling apart, nothing was set up correctly, ended up rebuilding the engine and putting the 2.0 zetec in, and having the carbs rebuilt and re-jetted, and had the gearbox stripped and a lsd fitted, on the way back from buying it the rear engine mount gave way, the bolts holding it in wasn't hss, just looked like they were made from chewing gum, so they snapped in the head.
Non of the electrics were working properly so had to do some rewiring, had to fix the thermostat too.
Exhaust wasn't the best so sorted that out, and had a bit of welding to do to sort it out.
Except for that, was a brilliant car 🤣
Sold it the next year, it's the one car I wish I had never sold, loved driving it, used to go off the clocks on the speedo and bounce off the mileage reset button!
