New to forum looking for 2.0 16v engine

Hi people just got a golf mk1 gti and am looking for a 2.0 16v engine if anyone can advise! First ever VW I have completed a Clio mk1 gt turbo and a modified Land Rover defender but could do with some direction as never restored a German car before!

The best thing is that Golfs a re bit better built so less breaking of things. Plus you you can throw all those Whitworth spanners away!
