welcome to the forum, that looks a really tidy car and a nice colour, don't see many like that.

Tell us a bit more about it's history.

Not sure if it's an 82 or an 83 car but here is the link to the 83 model year brochure.

Hi, yes it is a 83 1.3 cl. It has little history with it as it was kept as part of a collection. The mileage says 18000 and everything is very tidy in it most of the paintwork is original selvas green. It was bought by ukD by the previous owner.

My advice would be to keep it totally standard. Keep in a dry garage  and off the winter salty roads and enjoy driving it for the rest of the year.

Insure as a classic with agreed value incase the worst happens.

1987 Alpine White 1.8 Clipper Cabriolet

The trouble with doing nothing is that you never know when you are finished.

Oh yes I don't intend to drive it at all until the sun comes out. And I don't like all the changes people do to them so it will be staying standard. Just needs a polish and wax.

Nice looking car, I do like the standard look.

Are you close to Bristol as I think that's where the dealer you bought it from are?

Welcome to the club first of all.

Really nice looking Mk1 you've picked up there for I'm a firm believer in keeping them standard.
Although it's always nice to add your very own personal touch as I've done with mine by fitting accessories that were available back then. ;)

Please do post up some more photos as we can't get enough of them!

Nice to see original looking car.. don't worry summers on its way.. ..or at least here in Saudi it's a toasty 25c. Can't even think what upgrade would be in 1983…electric cigarette lighter.. seatbelts.. passenger side wing mirror.  Radio with fm..

All the best and there's plenty of people on here will help source items and give advice on any issues you may find.

On the drive

Rocco gt2….1990 secret 2…(currently under resto)

Well while Kenneth is sunning himself we've got -13 degrees and it's expected to be colder next week.

As far as accessories were concerned back then in 83 well I'd just stated selling them that year.

So the Dealerships would try to upgrade your purchase for example with allow wheels, better stereo, electric antenna, mudflaps and rubber mats. We would also push glass sunroofs as they and all of the above were good profit centers for the company.

You might persuade one or two to buy the Hella rectangle fog lamps if you were lucky.

This was a mission for all new and used VW's to the point that we'd fit some or all of the above to used ones before putting them on display. ;)

Well there's another trade secret given away!
