Hi all, just signed in to the Ireland Region, i have a 1985 VW Golf Mk1 1.8Gti Christmas Cabriolet, Karmann Ghia Limited Edition, from what i've read they made only 750 of these, 400 in LHD for the German Market and 350 for the UK Market, it is reckoned that around 15% are in the hands of Collectors so that's less than 120, seems like a wild guess though as i've only seen 2 others. Any genuine info on this model would be greatly appreciated, i have seen magazine articles which have got the general details quite wrong so i may have to research back to the Osnabruck factory for information. Glad to see there is a thriving culture in the Mk1 scene and hope to have mine ready for an outing in the near future. I'll soon learn how to post pics ! image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg

Welcome to the club first of all. 👍

We have a strong Irish following and no doubt over time you'll meet many including Shughy one of our go to guys in Ireland 🇮🇪

From what I can see the car looks excellent in the photos but I'm curious as to know why you believe this one to be a 'Christmas Edition'?

I'm sure others will ask so I thought it best to get that question out the way first! 😉

Happy Easter 🐣

Looks like a CC to me from the pictures, just missing the decals, seats look the right colour, do they have the CC logo al over them?  Only ever seen one with the CC pattern on the roof still, does this ?  most have been replaced by now.

Hi GC, the differences with this model were purely Cosmetic, White & Silver Snowstar wheels, the initials CC throughout the Blue upholstery, the headcloth, Sun Visors etc ( some people mistakenly thought it was a Coco Channel design ) all 750 in this edition were in Christmas White with Dark Blue Roof and contrasting trim, mine is missing the rear wing decals as they are hard to get, i also need to paint the GTi edging on the grille and get a new GTi Badge.

Hi Karmann1985 welcome to the mk1 forum.

A very nice looking motor you have there. Will fit in well with your collection. There a good few of us spread over Ireland but we are quite active meeting at shows up and down the country. Please say hello in the regional section and you will be warmly welcomed.

If you need some cabrio stuff I've always a few bits kicking about. Have a look at my site below.

Cheers Hugh.
