Newbie-sort of..

Hi,

I had joined this forum back in 2010 when I had 'started' to restore my barn find, but one thing led to another and it got shelved-again.

Story is, I purchased a mars red campaign (129k) back in 2003 that hadn't been on the road since the late 90's. Thankfully the shell was good and most of the parts were there. Best thing was getting all the service history with it-including delivery check sheet and old 'V5'.

I myself had this stored since purchase, kidding myself now and then that I could start the resto, but I'm pleased to say now I have the new garage cleared and set up, the Resto is now definitely on!

I'm impressed with the guides and knowledge in here, so looking forward to tapping into it to get the job done.

The shell is almost completely stripped, but I had to leave the rear beam and front running gear on to move it around-but now it's 'home' I'd like to make rollover jig and start from the bottom-it's surprisingly clean underneath but will get a better idea in the light.
The original bottom end was ditched a while back as it had been left outside for years (before I got it) with holed pistons! Like hammer sized holes-maybe it was seized and someone lost their temper lol
So the resto will be back to factory spec apart from the 1.9 tsr Donnington block.
I have 2 solid lifter heads which I may need advice with, one looks like it's been skimmed a fair bit-but anyway that's for another day..

Hello all :-)

Well done for not selling it and giving up on the idea. Now you can build it in your own vision with the satisfaction of knowing the car inside out.
