Newbie in Surrey

Post

Hi
I've just bought a mk1 cabby, argh!
My first VW and it's in need of a lot of restoration.
Hoping to restore it back to its original glory, are there any good guides / people in the Surrey area who have started a ground up project who would be willing to guide a newbie?
Thanks.
Dave

Thanks Mike
Quite excited. Done many land rovers previously.
It arrives Thursday so will put some pictures up when it turns up. But it's been garaged for 14 years… so yes may need some work…
Thanks very much for the advice will create a work list and check out those sections.
Cheers!

Are a Landrover fan, I had four in my time!  :$
The last was my dream Landrover, the 10 seater Safari in white, Defender TDi, even had it over here in Austria for my first year here way back in 94. Still love them even now as long as they are the proper job and not the city ones for unsuccessful tarts.  O_o

Now the best thing to do now is start a completely new post in the 'Projects' section.
You can create a blow by blow historical post of the car, it's problems and solutions from start to finish.

A complete guide to your car and a point of reference to keep. Now if you update it on a very regular basis it's worth as much if not more than a fully stamped service book!

Whatcha mate,

Welcome along.

You'll find it a bit different from a landy!

The plastics don't break as easily but the metals probably thinner!

You'll be needing those new modern metric spanners too mate  :P

I'm sure it'll all go well  :ninja:

thanks everyone.
golf Cabrio that's a great idea I'll document it all. :)
Yes am an green blood I'm afraid massive Landy fan, but fancy something that doesn't need to be mended all the time. Was changing axle seals every weekend on one of my old girls.

borednow thanks, have a few of those strange metric spanners in amougts my UNF and withworth collection :)

Rubbadubdub I'm in cranleigh, would of liked to take it to the cranleigh show later in the year but it won't be ready. Can't wait to drive it. Your red one looks great!!
Do many owners meet up / go on events / drives?

Thanks for the offers may need some advice on what specs /trims to use. Do I restore it it's original glory or do something else?
