New Mk1 project from Northern Ireland

Post

Hi guys, picked up a 1983 Mk1 1.3 Driver edition from my uncle a few months ago. He bought it cheap a few years ago as a project but it was relegated to the corner of the garage as he has a couple of Porsches as projects too so I managed to get it off him for a decent price!

I currently drive a Mk4 150 TDI which I stripped down and rebuilt with all new suspension, interior, and a lower mileage engine, as well as plenty of OEM+ mods - really pleased with how it turned out. Hoping to take what I learned from the Mk4 and do an even better job on the Mk1 :)

Here's the Mk4 - 3 door in Anthracite Blue with a genuine early Votex kit (extremely rare for the Mk4s!) - there's a build thread and mod list on UK-MKIVs here…

Thread for the Mk1 will be coming soon!

Welcome along Jake, there's quite a few Mk1 owner members on here from Northern Ireland.  Looking forward to seeing progress.

Thanks Pistol, I've seen some stunning Mk1s at shows over here so it'll be good to get to know who the owners are!

Cheers Ian :)

Unfortunately the plan is to ABF swap it and run it on ITBs, I know the purists will hate me but I've always wanted to build an engine running on throttle bodies… Plus it gives me an opportunity to map it myself.

I've started a thread here in which I've explained plans a little further!
