New lad here - first car - LOVE IT
It's a southafrican import and it's called a citi - based on the mk1 but produced in 1996
Absaloutely mint, 60k miles, not 1 problem i or my mechanic mate could spot and it's just a bit different to every other 17 year old boys clio's or fiestas.
Anyway - no real plans for it, want it completely standard really (can't afford anything with this insurance!!) but i'd love a golf badge for it or something for the back - better save up!
What do you reckon - more pics to follow!

Glad you've sorted insurance. Unfortunately it's inevitable that it's gonna be very pricey for a year or two if you want to drive anything nicer than a Metro. Love the Golf. You've even got that flower sticker off the back already. Don't blame ya! They look great in white too 8) As for a rear badge, just get a second hand one off Ebay or on here. Mk2 ones are cheap enough?

your car looks cool, especially for a first car.

Ive decided to sell my citi as the insurance is crippling me and i really cant afford to run the car. im planning on buying one in a years time when ive got a little more money saved up but for now this has regrettably got to go. since owning i have litterally used one tank of fuel…
im just looking to get back the price i paid for it… or as close as poss.
I payed £1300 and have just serviced it with a load of new parts (oil filter. distributer and leads etc). The cars running sweet and as mentioned it only has about 60k on the clock.
Im sad to be letting the car go. but hoping an enthuiast can look after her…
Anyone can feel free to contact me on
07810 827760 or nug8321@hotmail.com
if I dont anwser leave a message as i may be in college…
Regards
Niall

hopefully you will sort another one!
insurance wise, on a 1.1 i was supposed to be picking up (couldnt because of the severe weather ) it was around 900 on parents while a 1.5 was around 1500 on parents like you said. over 2000 on mine

on mine personally I dint think £1500 was too bad because before I became aware that I could actually get insured on a golf I was looking at starlets (boy racer maybe but they're nice in my opinion lol) and on a 1.3 insurance was £1700 with no mods or a proton persona I think it was also 1.3 £2000 both on my parents! Just can't figure it out at times!
