New car!

Hi all, picked up my new car on Monday (from Gary who is current club member).

It's an absolute cracker 👌

Long drive from Tunbridge Wells all the way to Aberdeen! Didn't miss a beat.

Full wash underneath, arches and engine bay to clean away all the nasty salt.

Full underbody corrosion protection using Corrosion block.

Think I'll need to take the side skirts off for a good clean up also…….easy enough to do?

Welcome, good to see the car and you on this web site.

Straight forward to remove body kit as mainly just screws and a few pop rivets to drill out.
The wheel arches could be glued on, if you remove the screws inside the wheel arch you should be able to pull the kit away a little from the arch, if not it's glued on which is a pain as you need to cut through the glue or heat it which could cause damage to the paint…

Is there still that quick release battery connection on the + side of the battery?
If so take it off and fit it to the - side. You may damage the battery and keep making sparks taking the + side off first as that's not the way to do it.

I saw it for sale on this site and noticed the battery connection. I don't know the car or owner as such just from what's posted on here.

Couple of other things….

Look at the home made vacuum hose from the inlet manifold to the brake servo, the original pipes are tricky to get hold but they are out there.

Strut top mounts coming to the end of there life.

There's a white plastic clip I believe holding the clutch cable which is attached to a rubber hose, that should be fitted to the brake master cylinder and the clutch cable as that hold the cable straight up.

I think you are missing a earth strap to the bonnet, ( I have one but mines not a sport line) it's from the inner wing bolt to a bonnet hinge bolt.

These are only small things to put right but will make the car look more original.

These things I spotted in the pictures so I might be wrong, a bit of re- search or google images should help you see what I mean.. :)

Post 90 cabs have bonded on arches.
World of pain awaits.

Remove Cill cover first
Screws underneath and it clips onto clips screws into the body.
So undo underneath prise away then tap upwards to lift off clips.
That will then reveal side screws for the arch covers

As the car was repainted in 2010 they might of stuck them back on….. you might be lucky and there is nothing holding them on like my 1988 car….

1988 should be screws and rivets only.

We can live in hope lol.

Looks lovely, side skirts are easy to come off, as people have mentioned before arches ok unless bonded

I will always have a soft spot for a Sportline

Has mine for 3 years, link to build thread at bottom of my signature, should have kept it really :-(

Nice one Rich.
You've owned some brilliant cars, and such a well documented history of what you've owned and done!
Plenty of reading!
