Hello everyone, i'm new to the site but have been a long time lurker (5 years). I bought my mk1 gl about 3 months ago and i couldn't be happier, it needs some tlc but that will all be addressed. would love to meet up and talk all things mk1 at upcoming shows this season :) here are a few pictures from the day I picked up my first mk1 i've ever owned, I don't know why it took so long.
cheers,
Steve. IMG_0395.JPG IMG_0395.JPG

Welcome Steve,

Your car has the correct number of doors for my liking

It looks really good, has it got a red seats? if so, not too many of those about.

Welcome mate
I agree it looks really nice.
A good find that,
What's the plans for it?

We have the AGM 28th July over that weekend at Staford upon Avon racecourse.  But attend most shows. Paid members get first dibs on putting there cars on the stands too.
It's a must so get yourself there and prepare fancy dress.

Cheers

Whatcha mucker  ;)

Welcome to the club.

I'm liking that muchly! It'll come up really nicely with a mop I reckon.

Is the interior red or biscuit?

Any plans for it?

Yes the interior is all red, the only thing missing is a parcel shelf and the shelf supports, finding a shelf in red is somewhat of a mission.

Current plans are to fix the rust issues where the drivers side wing bolts to the car near the A frame, fit the coilovers and bbs rm's that have been sat in the garage for the past year, i thought that if i bought parts for a car i didn't have it would give me the incentive to actually pull my finger out and buy my dream car. I've recently put the the small chrome bumpers on, but cheaped out and should have bought stainless steel… for those interested… About 2 1/2 weeks before they started to gather surface rust!!

It has some lacquer peel in places and rust spots in others enough that it will be going to the body shop for a respray (minus the engine bay) in about a month.

I'll definitely come to the AGM at Stratford upon avon, can you camp out?

cheers guys.

Welcome Steve, love the car, I'm a sucker for a 5 door as well!

You can camp at the show, from Friday until Sunday, there's loads to do (including a 40ish mile drive out)

Keep your eyes peeled we're announcing it soon!

Look forward to seeing you there

It does indeed! Not many people have put two and two together, and I've been on here for almost 10 years!

Welcome Steve

Nice MK1 you've got. I used to have one like that - black but same interior. I think it was 1990 when I bought that one! lol

5 years is a long time lurking but we can forgive you that given that you've coughed-up for membership!

Enjoy your time here

I've not driven a mk1 for a year now (mines under resto) however since your post all I've done is search for cheap 5 doors…. I have the room for it, be rude not to wouldn't it!
