Good Afternoon all

I'm Siobhan

I have owned my MK1 GTI Cabrio  for 20 years driven daily for 10 years. Took it off the road 10 years ago for much needed TLC. Unfortunately  it has be still for 5 years.  I am now trying to get it back on the road.
I intend doing the work myself with the help The owners club, a Haynes manual and YouTube. It has been years since I worked on a car so, looking forward to the learning curve and  proving I can do this.

And the day it is on the road.

Looking forward to chatting to you all

SiobhanXX

Welcome along.

Lots of info on here and some very knowledgeable people too. I'm sure between them and the trusty Haynes you'll be fine.

Just be prepared for the comment 'and the re-fitting is the reverse of the removal' quote in the Haynes.Very often it isn't

hi and welcome..

check fuel hoses and intank for rust, if looks ok  check oil level top up with some cheap stuff(will need service asap) put battery on /or jump start pack, some fresh fuel (5litres or so) , spray wd40 into metering head, and some brake cleaner into intake hoses see if will start..

should have 2 pumps if injection model 1 in tank 1 external.   these really like to be used… so could be stuck…  intank pump the connection hose from filter to pump tend to rot check that whilst looking in tank… dont smoke or light fires until all evaporated away.

plenty of willing helpers around

thank you all for your welcome and advise
I have so much to learn and am really looking forward to it.
I have received my replacement external fuel pump as it wasn't making a sound.
Put fresh fuel in and squirted WD40 in all nooks and crany's i can see.

loving it!!!
