HELLO. I AM A NEW MEMBER WITH TWO MK1 GOLFS IN MY FAMILY ONE BEING A 1983 MK1 GOLF GTI (ONLY A SHELL), AND THE OTHER A ROAD GOING 1989 MK1 GOLF CAB GTI.

Welcome Griffter, nice to see new faces still arriving.

As a matter of interest, are you planning to get the shell back on the road as a car, how much is missing, etc?

Donnybrook, but all my Golfs are on a farm in Kildare (awaiting restoration).

Nothing going on at present, due to a chronic lack of space at present, and these cars being about 25 miles from my house, but in the spring I'll be looking at using a relation's garage to get started on the Lhasa Green Campaign (6th from left in pic) - needs welding underneath for the NCT (that's MOT for those of you in the UK  :wink:  ), and the engine and 'box have 210,000 miles on them, so they'll need an overhaul too.

Currently I'm driving an Audi 80 2.0 16v (almost as quick as a GTI, and much more refined, but no one looks twice at it…)

It will be nice to see the Green campaign when its finished, good luck with it.

Your own GTI sounds good - is that the "Peppermint" metallic green colour? Is it an irish car or (like mine) a UK import?

Its an english import alright, the colour is VW Classic Green Pearl Metallic.
