Hello from Reading

Hi folks,

Stumbled across the site today.  Very pleased to find it as I would like to tidy up my 83 Silver Campaign which has unfortunately got a bit tatty.  I have owned the car since 85, so only have myself to blame; well myself and my missus  :(   The car is her daily driver and frankly has suffered a bit.

The car is standard looking (apart from the currently damaged front wing  :x ), but has a GTI Engineering (remember them?  Graham Wort, what a nice guy) Plus Pac cylinder head, lowered suspension and big front brakes.  It has just had a new rear bumper courtesy of the local mayor's wife, who peeled the skin off the previous one.  Whilst it was in the garage they fitted a replacement parcel shelf support that I had bought off Ebay. Next on the list is to fit new cables to the front seats, because the current set have stretched and no longer unlatch the seat backs.  Are the cables still available?

The car is still fun to drive (In its day it was quicker than the 16V MK2 I had as a company car), but nowadays I find the Powertorque stainless exhaust a bit noisy and to be honest I prefer the more refined performance of my 99 Audi S4.  However the Golf is well and truly part of the family and needs some love.

Cheers,

David

I imagine the S4 is a bit different to a mk1 Golf !!  :D

Welcome aboard though. Golf needs lots of TLC, but they will reward you in return!

Cheers,

Drew.

Thanks guys.

No respray yet.  Generally paintwork pretty sound apart from a few scrapes (wife drove under a closing car park barrier….bless her..).

The S4 is a bit different…..people admire the Golf more :)

Seriously more people stop you to talk about the Golf.

S4 very quick and I really like it, but a bit antiseptic.

Cheers,

David

Hi PD150

Sorry for the delay replying.

Not me I'm afraid.  I haven't done any track days.  Daft stuff always happens to me when I have an audience….

Cheers,

David
