Hello from Ayr Scotland

Post

Hi everyone I'm Davy from Ayr Scotland, most of you have probably seen my Facebook post about my newly acquired 1983 GTi in Helios blue. For those who haven't I rescued it from a garage after not seeing daylight for 12 years. Considering its slumber it's not too bad but I'll be doing a full restoration on the car. I've got to say the response from you guys has been amazing so thank you! I look forward to joining in the forum.

Plenty of info on here and you can always look through some of the projects in the projects section for inspiration and ideas.

Thanks guys, a little bit of background on the car.
I got the car through a friend of a friend who knows the owner, he had been offered it but declined as he's only interested in old triumphs…
He then put a brief advert on the local triumph club FB page and I came across it and managed to get in first! Bit of luck which I don't usually have 😀
The garage hadn't been opened for around 12 years, when we opened the door it fell to bits! Owner reckoned it was probably last on the road around 15 years ago, however I've found a tax disc for 2000 don't know if that's last time or not, the cars not showing on the DVLA MOT check site.
Thanks needs to go to Bob the triumph guy for telling his friend to put it up for sale, the owner was going to scrap it……..

Love this car.. One of my fave colours to be fair. I had a Helios Blue Cabby as my first Car.

Please do take lots of pictures even before you start work as it's a great way of looking back at how the car progresses over time.

Start a new post in the 'Projects' section now and start from when you first saw it in pictures of course if you can! 👍🏼
