My New Mk1 golf gti sportline

Hi all, just wanted to introduce myself and my new Mk1 golf gti sportline. After searching for nearly 2 years for the right sportline,  I finally found one . Bought it from a great owner who looked after it,  maintained it really well I was in love first sight . As a kid It was my childhood dream , so makes it even more special!!  My plan is to restore it back to its best keeping it all original but improved!!! 32AE7AD4-E035-40EC-BA39-29035C108D42.png

I've had golfs all my life but  this is my first classic  Mk1 golf , bit learning curve   but keen to learn. 😬😬😬

What Golfs have you had before?

In my opinion a good choice of Golf a Mk1 cabriolet or possibly a Mk2 Gti but you can't get a cabriolet in that style after 1993 Golfs got heavy and just look dull, mk5 a nice looking car and getting back to a drivers car but to many electrical systems to "help" and go wrong and most have very rusty front wings.

Early cars are getting back to basics… simple to fix and work on, cheap to run, no need for a USB port and laptop and you don't have to drive at silly speeds to enjoy the drive as 60 mph feels like 60 mph, they keep up with modern stuff and surprise a few drivers if pushed hard…

Totally agree Mark , couldn't said it better !! Mk1 & 2 we're best models until mark 5 Can  along that's when  thay began to improve again !!! I've had few Golfs ……Mk4 golf gti , and Mk4  gti anniversary  Mk5 golf gti and car most enjoyed  kept for a long while Mk5 golf edition 30 very rare in white great car never missed a beat , 300bhp alot of fun still regret  selling 2 years on .
I did sell it to friend of mine so got first dibs on it if he decides to sell.  But more than happy with Sportline puts smile on my face everytime drive it totally different to what I have had previously but something about having Classic you really appreciate , and as I say always want one as a kid.

Another good thing about Mk1s and Mk2 cars is they have reached rock bottom prices and now going up in valve which is nice.

Not that I ever see me selling mine until I get to old to drive it then I'll pass it down to the kids.
