Post

Well after listening to everyones advise I waited patiently for about 8 months for the right car and 2 weeks ago I picked up this sportline. 87k on clock all backed up with every MOT, 4 owners, its been in my garage for the last 2 weeks having a 6 step compound/ polish/ wax as honestly it looked like it had been washed with a mit full of stones. Anyway after about 3 days in total exterior looks 95% perfect now. Just wheels to get refurb and 3 dints to get rubbed out. Love owning this car just makes me smile!!

Very shinny… I bet your pleased with the results?

Did the sprtline come with the GTi badge on the grill like the GTi Mk1 Golf cabriolet?

Some one nicked mine once and I think you need a Mk2 Golf GTi badge to fit on the 5 slat grill, it was a few years ago some one desided it nick all my badges, front and rear……. :dry:

1988 Mk1 Golf GTi Cabriolet 1.8cc DX, K-jet. Daily drive. 317,000 miles and counting
1978 Mk1 Scirocco GLS 1.6cc FR, Webber carb. Weekend toy.

Hi no badge on the front grill. I think I prefer with out as it unbalances the grill anyway. Yeah I was aurprised at how easy the badges come off. I just refurbed all the rear and now worried about someone nicking them especially given how much badges are these days!

Thanks interior is next up as I will get wheels done over winter so I can enjoy her for a few months.

Already got a brand new carpet set to go in. Also some new door tops (bit above door card) as they were all cracked so got new ones.

Now need;
New gear knob and gaitor
New glove box as hinge snapped… can these be repaired?
2 small holes on seat to be fixed very small but im fussy.
Also could do with new window rain rubbers as they are cracked.
Few other bits I may swap to new as the are showing there age a bit like window winders ect…
