Another new member

New member, new venture into this forum business. Have owned two totally standard MK 2's but have always dreamt about a MK 1, now have funds and wish to live the dream! Am looking at buying a Campaign model, totally standard and am trying to gauge availability and price of what i want.

Last car was '87 16v, totally original. I put on a set of MK2 P-slots and two weeks later an elderly lady decided to tee-bone me and change it to the shape of a banana. Now have a daily drive so  have a place and time for a MK 1.

Mk1 Campaigns are still out there, but most are either being held onto by current owners, or are restoration (or spare-parts!) projects, so be patient, and don't jump anything unless you are sure.

Also, don't forget that many of the 1.8 GTI cars are 90% the same as the Campaign models, so don't rule them out…

Thanks for the advise, my brother-in-law is soon to be proud owner of a camper, so think we could both try and get to as many meets this summer as poss and i can do some home work!

hi i too was a mk2 man, iv had 5 in last 3 years still own 4 of then all for diffrent use's or that what i tell her  but allways wanted a mk1 8)  so i slowly made ?1000 selling mk2 bits on ebay and started looking,
but i needed a ression for another car so got a cab for summer use! didnt take long just sat on ebay for a month till i found a low millage one with history for about ?1000  the one i got had only 63,000 on the clock and a mint inside with an 1800 gti moter
so snap't it up and loved it ever sin's but still have soft spot for mk2's and as they get older will become as rare as a original mk1 in my mind,
good look finding one iv still to own a tin top mk1 and 16v mk2 but will do one day
